Never without a camera

How do the words “one-way ticket” make you feel?

Excited? Nervous? 100% all in?

That’s how I felt at 23 when I decided I would answer the call to hop on a plane and explore the world. I had a deep-rooted love for travel from an early age and I always knew solo travel was in the cards for me. What I didn’t know was that after traveling for two years on one-way tickets to over 30 countries with just me and my camera is that I would turn my photography passion into a career.

Julia Goldberg of Julia Goldberg Photography

You could say I was destined to become a photographer. All the paths in my life converged to lead me here. Cameras have held my fascination since my mom gifted me a Nikon for my high school graduation. My love of animals led me to study biology which only furthered my love and appreciation for nature, and all through high school I worked in event planning.

I found I could use these diverse experiences and skill sets to travel the world….not to mention see the animals of the world. Like I said - I love animals! I may or may not even (I absolutely do) have a certification in snake handling. It’s a fun story. Remind me to tell you about it!

So, at 23 with a one-way ticket to Ecuador, I set off to travel the world alone with a huge backpack and zero plans. 30 countries, many extreme adventures, and a zillion photos later, I knew photography would be my life.

imagine anything better.

We had the absolute pleasure of working with Julia in August 2021 for an adventure elopement shoot in Iceland! The photos speak for themselves. My husband and I can be kind of awkward in front of a camera, but Julia was amazing and provided guidance on how to pose and make things look more natural. She is beyond professional, friendly, and just an overall lovely person. She kept in touch leading up to the shoot and afterward to ensure an overall INCREDIBLE experience. 10000/10 recommend, all the gold stars!

Tanzania or Australia! It’s the perfect intersection of my passions: travel, animals, and photography. In Australia, I worked at a wildlife rehabilitation center and got to help raise a baby kangaroo!

Hey, I got you!

My first job was working in event planning with my mom. It’s where I learned to manage timelines, coordinate logistics, and cheerlead clients through a detailed (and sometimes stressful) planning process.

I also realized I happen to have a knack for it. I’ve photographed hundreds of couples, which means I’ve set hundreds of timelines, researched travel across the globe, and have a backup plan for every kind of celebration.

I also learned a lot about planning an event that is tailored to the people being celebrated.

From grand traditional weddings to two-person mountain-top elopements, I’m here to document your day, exactly as you imagine it.
