Why elope in California in the fall?
Fall gives you the best of everything. The weather is mild and stable, the summer crowds have faded, and permits and lodging are easier to book. Best of all, the state puts on a real autumn show if you know where to look, from golden aspens and vineyards to dramatic, moody coastline.
Yosemite National Park
Yosemite in the fall is quieter, cooler, and just as breathtaking. The waterfalls are gentler, the granite glows at sunset, and the oaks and maples along the valley floor turn warm shades of gold. June Lake Loop and the Eastern Sierra

When is peak fall color in California?
Timing depends on elevation. High Sierra aspens around June Lake, Hope Valley, and Mammoth usually peak from late September through mid October. Yosemite Valley and the coast hold their warm tones later, into late October and November. Wine country peaks with the harvest in October and early November. As a rule, chase the color higher and earlier, then lower and later.
