From the towering giants of the far north coast to the mossy groves tucked near the Bay Area, there is a redwood forest for every couple. I have photographed elopements among these trees in every season, and these are the spots I love most.

Big Basin Redwoods State Park
California’s oldest state park, in the Santa Cruz Mountains, is regrowing beautifully and still full of ancient giants. It is an easy escape from the Bay Area for a redwood elopement with coast access nearby.
Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park
Just outside Santa Cruz, Henry Cowell offers a gorgeous old growth loop that is flat, accessible, and stunning. A wonderful choice if you want big trees without a big hike.
Muir Woods National Monument
