A Moody Redwood Micro Wedding at Jedediah Smith Redwoods

Cydney and Pierce’s wedding day was one of those that just felt easy in the best way.

They headed up to Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park in Northern California, right near the border, and brought about 25 of their closest friends and family with them. The goal was simple. Be somewhere beautiful, keep it intimate, and actually get to spend time with the people they love.

Getting Married Beneath Giants

They chose to get married at the base of an absolutely massive redwood. The kind of tree that doesn’t even feel real until you’re standing right next to it.

The weather ended up being overcast, which honestly made everything even better. The light was soft, the forest felt extra moody with a fog hanging behind them, and it gave their photos that really rich, cinematic look.

They stood surrounded by their people, said their vows, and kept it simple and meaningful. No distractions, no big production, just a really solid moment between the two of them.

Wandering Through the Forest

After their ceremony, we spent time exploring the forest together. This part of the day always ends up being one of my favorites, and this was no exception.

Cydney kicked off her shoes and wandered barefoot through the forest like an actual forest fairy. Climbing over massive fallen logs, crossing little wooden bridges, and just fully embracing the moment.

It felt playful and free and a little bit wild.

At one point, we even stumbled across a banana slug, which felt very on brand for a Northern California redwood adventure and honestly just added to the whole experience.

Back to the Airbnb With Their Babies-The Sphynx Cats!

After our time in the forest, we headed back to their Airbnb where they were staying, and this part was so special.

They brought their sphynx cats outside for photos, because pets are family too. It was such a personal and meaningful addition to their day, and those photos ended up being some of the sweetest moments. Also, I had never seen a sphynx cat before, so I personally was beyond excited for this!

There’s something about including the little pieces of your real life that makes your wedding day feel even more like you.

An Intimate Celebration With Their People

From there, we made our way to the larger Airbnb where all of their friends and family were staying, and it was the most perfect setup.

Out on the back deck, everything had been thoughtfully arranged. A beautiful tablescape, an incredible dessert display, and a cake that felt almost too pretty to cut. There was even a harp player, which added such a soft, romantic atmosphere to the whole evening.

It felt elevated without being over the top. Intentional without feeling forced.

After cutting the cake and sharing a few heartfelt speeches, the rest of the night unfolded naturally. Stories were shared, laughter filled the space, and everyone just got to be together.

Ending the Day Exactly Right

Cydney and Pierce ended their wedding day the best way possible. Not with a big production or a packed timeline, but by simply spending time with the people they love most.

That’s what made this day so special.

It wasn’t about doing more. It was about choosing what mattered and fully leaning into it.

A quiet forest. A handful of people. A day that felt completely, unapologetically like them.
